Recently, Virat Kohli was ranked 89th in the list of World’s highest paid athletes. Most of his income was in the form endorsement deals. The captain has now again made a deal of bat sponsorship with MRF of more than 100 crores for 8 years. This is just close to his deal of Rs 110 crores made with Puma.
Along with Kohli, MRF also sponsors Shikhar Dhawan and AB de Villieres and has also sponsered legendary batsman, Sachin Tendulkar for a long time. Bunty Sajdeh, CEO of Cornerstone Sport and Entertainment said,“We have renewed the bat sponsorship deal with MRF for eight years. MRF was keen on securing Kohli for a long term. Today, brands are seeing value in securing long-term deals. We also want to show loyalty and commitment to them. And Kohli has got a great rapport with MRF and the money is phenomenal.”
This deal makes Kohli the only player in the country to have two 100 crore plus deals. According to Sajdeh, he will also look to cut out the number of brands he is endorsing. Kohli will now look on quality more instead of quantity. Recently he broke the sponsorship with Pepsi as he finds it unhealty to consume.
