India and Bangladesh are set to play their first ever day/night test match when they host Bangladesh for the second Test of the two-Test series at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata on Friday. Currently, India lead the series 1-0 by an innings and 130 runs in the first test in Indore.
The excitement is certainly very high as the ‘city of joy’ is all decked up in pink ahead of the pink ball test match in the city.
BCCI President Sourav Ganguly took to twitter to share the pictures of Kolkata and appreciated the preparations done by the CAB & BCCI.

Why the Pink ball?
The reason is, a red ball takes on a brownish colour under the yellow floodlights which is quite same as the colour of the pitch. Pink balls also have better night visibility than red balls and that is what makes them the most suitable ball for a day/night test cricket match.
