Another news coming from the Kohli-Kumble story that forced Anil Kumble to resign is that if Kumble had not taken that step, Kohli would have resigned. This is what left Kumble no choice but to resign despite of being a successful coach.
This topic caught heat past last month and it was revealed that the differences between them started to take place since the England series in December last year and even no proper communication was done between them. And now the relation had come to a no recovery point and ended with Kumble announcing his retirement.
According to a source said: “Kohli had been adamant that Kumble couldn’t continue as the head coach and that the Board needed to look for a replacement.. That, it seems, was communicated to the Committee of Administrators’ chief Vinod Rai, besides top officials of the Board and, of course, the CAC…. Had the Board gone ahead and implemented Sachin, Sourav and Laxman’s recommendation, then Kohli would almost surely have resigned”.
Also CAC extended Kumble’s contract but upon the condition that Kohli and Kumble were able to sort out their differences but that didn’t happen and after India’s defeat by Pakistan in the final of the ICC Champions Trophy 2017,Kumble left the post of head coach.
