Anil Kumble and Virat Kohli

Champions Trophy is to start on Thursday and though India has its first match on Sunday, there are still a lot of things going on in the Indian Cricket. As the deadline to apply for the post of India’s coach ended, it is almost clear that Anil Kumble will have to say goodbye to the Indian Cricket team. The differences between the skipper Virat Kohli and Kumble are being considered as the reason why he will no more continue as the coach. Along with Kohli, some other members of the team are also disappointed with the coach because of  his methods and style of functioning.

The upcoming tournament, that is, the Champions Trophy may be his last tournament as the coach. Not to forget, India has won five successive tournaments under his direction. According to the facts, the differences between Kohli and Kumble started at the initial stage of the England series in Rajkot in November last year.

BCCI officials and the members of Committee of Administrators tried to establish friendship between both of them but according to them, there is no chance of peace between them. Sachin Tendulkar, who appointed Kumble for the post of the coach in June, last year also tried to sort out the differences between them but Kohli has refused to move from his stand.

Also, the board didn’t receive any applications for the post till the deadline. So if Kumble denies to be the coach further, the only option left with the board is to find a replacement for him. In that case, Ravi Shastri is likely to be appointed for the role as it is believed that Kohli wants Ravi to join the team as the coach. But for now, the main concentration for the team should be to perform in the tournament and do well at their respective roles.
