The search for the next head coach for India is still on and the top contenders in the list are Virender Sehwag and Ravi Shastri. Ravi Shastri holds the support of captain Virat Kohli, while Sehwag, on the other hand, is BCCI treasurer Anirudh Chaudhary’s preferred choice. However, Virender Sehwag was recently in the talks for sending a ‘two-line’ resume for the post of head coach of the Indian Cricket team.
The former Indian opener denied the media reports and said that he had sent fully complaint resume. He slammed the media saying, “I would be happy to get that two line CV from the media source. If I had to send a two line resume, my name was enough.”
A source stated about Sehwag’s attitude,”Yes, Viru is outspoken on social media. But then, if he is appointed, he would be instructed to keep his mouth shut. Our fear is that he would just say, ‘so what?’, if India loses a match or a series. That would surely ruffle the feathers of important people.”
Besides Ravi Shastri and Virender Sehwag, Richard Pybus, Dodda Ganesh and Lalchand Rajput too have applied for the vacant coach’s position. The last date to apply is July 9. And the coach selection process will be completed by BCCI’s Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC) comprising of Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly and VVS Laxman.
