Mahendra Singh Dhoni is one of the most adored captains of the Indian Cricket Team. As he turns 39 today, fans have taken to social media to show their love for him. Hashtags like #happybirthdaydhoni, #mahendrasinghdhoni, #happybirthdaymsdhoni, and #happybirthdaycaptaincool were trending on Twitter today.

Every cricketer in the team has praised Dhoni’s accurate reading of the game. Whether it was going down to bat himself, or giving Virat Kohli the last ball, Captain Cool has almost always read the match right.

In Kohli’s words, “I don’t think I’ve come across a better cricketing brain just in terms of planning and knowing what’s happening in the game and what can be done. Sometimes I like to follow my own instinct as well but whenever I ask him anything 8 or 9 out of 10 times, Dhoni always tells you things that work. So it’s a blessing to have him.”

Vice-captain Rohit Sharma has stated that Dhoni’s decision to make him open the innings in ODIs was “career-changing”. He said that he has become a better batsman after 2013 and helped him understand his game better.

Dhoni’s unforgettable 79-ball unbeaten 91 runs had guided India to a six-wicket victory. He still possesses the fastest hands behind the stumps. However, indications suggest that he may retire from international cricket after the World Cup of this summer. However, the coronavirus pandemic has postponed the Twenty20 World Cup, as well as the IPL.
