India captain and veteran batsman Mithali Raj, while batting against Australia on Wednesday made history. The 34-year-old captain became the highest run scorer of all-time in women’s one-day internationals. Mitali is currently leading the Indian side in ICC Women’s World Cup 2017in England.

AS she scored her 34th run against Australia, she overtook Charlotte Edwards (5992) to be on the top list of highest run scorers. Mithali has reached this milestone in 164 innings, which is 16 less than Charlotte. Also, she has hit seven consecutive half-centuries from February 7, 2017, and has become the first and only woman cricketer to reach 6000 ODI runs. So far, Mithali has scored 6028 runs with the help of five centuries and 49 half-centuries.

Also, it is an Indian bowler Jhulan Goswami, with 189 wickets, who is the all-time leading wicket-taker in women’s ODIs adding to India’s pride.

Mithali Raj also caught attention recently when she was asked about her favourite male cricketer to which her answer was, “Do you ask the same question to a male cricketer? Do you ask them who their favourite female cricketer is? I have always been asked who’s your favourite cricketer but you should ask them who their favourite female cricketer is.”
