The World Cup is played amongst the top 12 teams of the World.

The top eight teams were already divided into two groups as the remaining will be selected by the group stage.

Group stage

The group stage consists of eight teams that are divided into two groups.

Namibia v/s Sri Lanka

Namibia and Sri Lanka played against each other on October 16th at Geelong.

Sri Lanka won the toss and elected to field first.

Micheal van Lingen and Divan La Cock opened the Innings for Namibia.

SL gave them quick breakthroughs as the pacers were performing well.

The short knocks by the upcoming batsmen saved them.

The knock by Jan Frylinck and JJ Smit of 44 and 31 runs brought them to a total of 163/7.

Pathum Nissanka and Kusal Mendis opened the Innings for SL.

Namibia bowlers performed outstandingly.

Ben Shikongo in the third over took repetitive wickets and pushed the SL team backward.

The bowlers didn’t let any of the SL batsmen score runs.

David Wiese, Bernard Scholtz, Ben Shikongo, and Jan Frylinck took two wickets each.

Namibia won the match by 55 runs as Jan was the Player of the Match for scoring 44 runs and taking two wickets.

Scotland v/s West Indies

Scotland and West Indies played against each other on October 17th at Hobart.

West Indies won the toss and elected to bowl first.

George Munsey and Michael Jones opened the Innings for Scotland.

They both gave a steady start to the team as Micheal lost his wicket.

George kept on going as he even completed his half-century.

With the knock of George of 66 runs, Scotland put up a total of 160/5.

Kyle Mayera and Evin Lewis opened the Innings for West Indies.

The openers gave a slow start to the team.

The bowlers of Scotland were well prepared as they started to take wickets.

One by one the batsman of WI was going back to the pavilion.

WI lost all their wickets at a score of 118 runs as Scotland won the match by 42 runs.

Mark Watt took three wickets as Brad Wheal and Michael Leask took two wickets each.

George Munsey was chosen as the Player of the Match.
