India’s first Live digital Sports News Channel, Power Sportz Tv, after three years of being in operation, is now currently on an expansion mode. The Channels grand launch in May 2018, saw quick growth in a short period of time and was recently in the news for its coverage of the Tokyo Olympics.
It has now been learnt that Ms Kanthi D Suresh, the founder of the channel along with her team is currently on a business trip to the Middle Eastern countries to meet important dignitaries who wish to be part of the expansion plan to these countries.
Power Sportz intends to set up more studios and streaming technology in the GCC region and take advantage of the region focus on Sports.
UAE, Qatar ,Oman, Saudi Arabia are currently focussing on hosting sports events, and move away from their traditional focus on oil and gas.
Ms Kanthi D Suresh on her way to UAE refused to divulge more details but said that there were many projects on the anvil but was premature to comment
Power Sportz , a channel dedicated only to Sports does not wish to add Movies & Entertainment to it’s portfolio like other OTT players like Hotstar and Sony Liv.
Can Power Sportz continue to grow only in the Sports domain which is tightly regulated and rights driven, is something to be seen. The Sports Streaming market is definitely growing but one needs to keep in mind that there are many big players in this space, globally, albeit few in India !
