PV Sindhu and N Chandrababu Naidu

Olympic silver medallist PV Sindhu has been handed the post of Deputy collector by the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, N Chandrababu Naidu. Earlier when PV Sindhu won the silver medal in Olympics, Chandrababu Naidu had promised her a Group-I post and accordingly she was appointed to the job on Thursday.

WHile handing over the offer letter to PV Sindhu, Naidu said that he expects Sindhu to bring more medals for the country in future. Sidhu is asked to report to the concerned commissioner within 30 days.

The Olympic silver medalist was working with Bharat Petroleum Corp Ltd (BPCL) since 2013 and currently holds the post of assistant manager of sports at its Hyderabad office. Sindhu expressing her happiness over her appointment said that badminton is her first priority and she would concentrate on her game.

PV Sindhu is the fifth Indian woman to win a medal at the Olympics after Karnam Malleswari, Mary Kom, Saina Nehwal and Sakshi Malik. She was felicitated with Rs 5 crore cash reward, a residential plot in Hyderabad by the Telangana government while Andhra government gave her a cash prize worth Rs 3 crore.
