PV Sindhu Carolina Marin

PV Sindhu, India’s ace shuttler had defeated Olympic gold medalist Carolina Marin in straight sets to win the first edition of India Open World Super Series. PV Sindhu won the game in straight sets with scores of 21-19, 21-16. Playing in front of a huge cheering home crowd, PV Sindhu lost the lead just twice in the game where she showed clear dominance and to prove why she is being considered as one of the future greats in the game of badminton.

Before the start of the game, PV Sindhu was at number 5 in world badminton ranking, however, after a convincing win to the title, she can now climb to Number 2.

At one point in the first set, PV Sindhu was leading with 6-1, however, a great display of disciplined thinking brought Carolina back in to the game and to make sure that she lost by only 2 points in the first set. Second set was even more eventful and once the difference of points was just 1 with PV Sindhu leading by 8-7. Once the score was 18-13 in favor of Sindhu, chances for Marin started to diminish and that resulted in a great win for the Indian star.
