After the void left by Vivo, BCCI is finding it more difficult to find a title sponsor for the upcoming season of IPL 2020. As the contract between Vivo and BCCI was suspended, it was believed that brands as always will start lining up at their door steps. But looking at the downfall of the market, it is now difficult to get one serious party who is ready to sponsor the title.

During the franchises call with IPL Governing Council, one of the franchise officials had asked Mumbai Indians representative about Jio’s interest in the sponsorship of IPL. It was cleared there itself by the representative that ‘they are not exploring any such association’.

It has also been learnt that BCCI has sent such sponsorship requests to various other corporate houses and brands but none of them have shown any serious interest as of now. BCCI is also reaching out to its existing partners PayTM, Byju’s and also some of the IPL associate partners including Tata Motors, Dream-11 etc. to check if they would be interested in the IPL 2020 title partnership. But they have not received any encouraging response from most of the parties yet.

“All of these companies are BCCI’s partners. They are Indian entities but we are little concerned about very strong Anti-China undercurrent. We don’t want to speculate on how people will react if any of them come on board”, stated one of the BCCI official.
