Kerela Blasters’ former coach Steve Coppell, who was with them from the first season, decided to join Jamshedpur FC after some disagreement with the club management regarding the player retention policy. Later, the management approached former Manchester City manager Stuart Pearce, but he also denied the offer. However, they were able to make a deal with the Dutchman, Rene Meulensteen.
