He was featured in 26 test matches and scored fifty in the 10 of the matches and 2 outstanding hundreds. Giving his personal best test Innings of 162 not-out runs.
He played 198 ODI matches and batted in 161 of them, scoring 5088 runs in total and hitting 30 fifties and 6 hundred.
Roy played 93 T20 for Australia, knocking 12 fifties and 2 hundred and managing to take t2 wickets.
World cup
He was the man every team feared at the 2003 World Cup. His undefeated 143-run knock against Pakistan in the early stages of the competition in Johannesburg astounded everyone. His impact to his team’s ability to stay on the winning side of the World Cup final versus India is still remembered by cricket enthusiasts.
He was also a member of the Australian squad that won their fourth 50-over World Cup championship in 2007, defeating Sri Lanka in the final.
He is the third Australian cricketer to pass away, having already lost two great players in the form of Shane Warne, who died of a heart attack in Thailand in March, and former wicketkeeper Rod Marsh, who died of the same cause earlier this year.
Symonds sister Louise visited the accident place on Sunday and placed an emotional note there.
“Gone far too soon!” the note read. “Rest in peace Andrew. I wish we had one more day, one more phone call. My heart is broken. I will always love you, my brother.”
Floral tributes lay at the crash site where Andrew “Roy” Symonds lost his life on Saturday night, outside of Townsville.
