Rohit Sharma marks his comeback with a spectacular century as India seals the ODI series against England.
A long wait ended for Rohit fans as he hit his 32nd century and ended the ODI century drought, as this century came after October 2023 in the one-day formats.
With the win against the English team, India continued its 40-year dominance in the home series of ODIs against England.
India last faced an ODI series loss against England in 1985 since then, India has never lost an ODI series against England at home.
Match Details
The 2nd ODI of the three-match series was played in Cuttack at the Barabati Stadium.
England won the toss and elected to bat first.
England Innings
Phil Salt and Ben Duckett opened the innings for England.
They both started great and were going on and building a great partnership as Varun broke their partnership and took the wicket of Phil.
Joe Root came in to bat as Ben completed his half-century but lost his wicket to Jadeja.
Joe also kept on playing good knock as he also completed his half-century.
Going on, Harry and Jos also played short knocks and added runs to the total.
Liam, in the end, played a short knock, the rest all lost their wickets.
In the end, England made a total of 304 runs and lost all their wickets.
India Innings
Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill opened the innings for India.
They both started great, as Rohit was seen in great form again and hitting great shots.
They both built an outstanding partnership and also reached their half-centuries.
Overton broke their partnership when he took the wicket of Shubman, and soon, Virat lost his wicket.
Shreyas came in to bat, and he also started to play a great knock when Rohit completed his 32nd century.
Livingstone didn’t let him go for long as he took his wicket when Axar came in to bat.
Iyer and Axar’s knocks took India closer to victory, as Axar and Ravindra made India win the match.
With this win, India also won the ODI series and now will be looking to clean-sweep the English team in the final ODI.
