Shikhar Dhawan announces his retirement from international and domestic cricket.

The man who told the entire nation how to keep smiling even in difficult situations.

The man who always kept the nation above him and played flawlessly.

Now, he has officially retired from international cricket and domestic cricket.

Early Life

Shikhar was born on December 5th, 1985 in New Delhi in a Punjabi family.

At the age of 12, he started to train himself under the coaching of Tarak Sinha.

He first played for the Delhi Under-16s in the 1999/00 Vijay Merchant Trophy.

He was also the leading run-scorer in the next edition of the trophy.

With his outstanding performance, he was picked for the India Under-17 Asia Cup.

He also played for India in the 2004 Under-19 World Cup in Bangladesh.

And finished as the leading run scorer, scoring 505 runs with an average of 84.16.

International Debut

After years of playing for India A and giving immense performances.

He was finally called into the Indian ODI squad against Australia on October 20, 2010.

In the next year, he debuted in the T20S against the West Indies on June 4, 2011.

Later on, his test debut also came in front of Australia on March 14th, 2013.

Since then he has been an important part of the Indian squad.

The opening duo of Shikhar and Rohit have been famous worldwide.

Dhawan was a part of the ICC Champions Trophy-winning Indian team.
And in 2017 when India was the runner-up.

He was also in the ICC T20 World Cup squad in 2014 where India was the runner-up.

Shikhar was a part of the ACC Asia Cup winning team India in the years 2016, and 2018.

Awards

Shikhar holds several records for his name; the mains are of the fastest century by a debutant.

The leading run-scorer for India in the 2015 ICC World Cup.

Man of the Tournament at the 2013 ICC Champions Trophy.

He got the golden bat at the 2013 and 2017 Champions Trophy for scoring the most runs.

Shikhar is the only player to get two golden bats consecutively.

In the year 2021, he was awarded the Arjuna Award by the Government of India.
