MS Dhoni

At a Gala dinner organised by Virat Kohli’s  foundation, former Indian captain MS Dhoni admitted that former Pakistan fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar was the toughest fast bowler he has faced in his career.

The Indian wicket-keeper started the conversation with host Alan Wilkins asking him, “You’ve been around cricket for a long time, so can I ask you a question, do you understand Duckworth-Lewis?”

Getting a negative reply, with a smile on his face he said, I don’t think even ICC understands the D/L method.

Then he was asked about the toughest bowler he has faced in his career. On this he said,“All the fast bowlers are quite difficult, with the limited technique I had, it was very difficult to face the fast bowlers. Still, if I had to pick one, I would pick Shoaib Akhtar. Very simple reason, he was quick, he was fast, he could bowl a yorker, he could bowl a bouncer but you never expected a beamer (he chuckles), he was a bit unpredictable, he was fun to play against.

India now must be practicing  hard to take on their next opponent, Sri Lanka on 8th June in the ICC Champons Trophy 2017.
