Shubman Gill : The U19 Star that’s Creating Ripples

The Man of the Hour, Shubman Gill has created quite a stir in the World of Cricket. The 18-year-old is now a member of Kolkata Knight Riders after they bagged him for a whopping 1.8 Crore at this year’s IPL Auction.

The reason is quite evident. The young cricketer, who is also the vice-captain of India’s U-19 team, helped India to reach the finals of the ICC U19 Cricket World Cup 2018 New Zealand by thrashing Pakistan with a score of 102 (not out). Not only that, the Sachin fan-boy has a century and three fifties in his five innings to add to his name. He is actually the highest scorer in World Cup so far with 341 runs from six matches. The Punjab boy made his first-class debut by scoring half a century against Bengal at Amritsar in the November of 2017 as a member of Punjab Ranji team.

On making it to the Under19 India’s team, he proved himself immensely by scoring freely against versatile bowling attacks and becoming the Man of the Match against England. On the previous tour in England, he managed to score 271 in four innings at an average of 93. Shubman Gill is the cricketer to watch out for as he has the potential to become the next big sensation in the Cricket World.
