SINGAPORE: After getting kicked out of the Malaysian open, Indian Ace players Kidambi Srikanth, Saina Nehwal and PV Sindhu finally came back strongly in the Singapore Open.

Sameer Verma almost pulled a stunner to win the match against Momota

It is the place where the Indian Badminton player B Sai Praneeth defeated his fellow mate Kidambi Srikanth to won his first Super-series title. But this time he fell short as he didn’t beat the World NO.1 Kento Momota. The unimaginable couldn’t happen as Praneeth didn’t hold his nerves in the last set of the game and got defeated by Momota by 19-21, 21-14, 22-20 in a long match of 72 minutes. The World’s No.1 almost had his heart in his mouth as he down with saving two at 20-18 and gave him a real scare. 

The crowd at Singapore were on their feet by seeing this remarkable effort from the Indian Player.

Apart from him, the rest of India Players like Saina Nehwal, PV Sindhu and Kidambi Srikanth who struggled in Malaysian Open 2019 moved smoothly in the second Round. HS Prannoy had to struggle till an hour to beat the Frenchman Brice Leverdez by 11-21 21-16 21-18.

Sameer Verma and The Badminton veteran Parupalli Kashyap also advances to the next round with ease.

PV SINDHU EASILY ADVANCES TO THE SECOND ROUND OF THE SINGAPORE OPEN

PV Sindhu, The World No.4 Badminton player made her way to the Second Round comfortably by beating the Indonesian Lyanny Alessandro Mainaky by 21-9 21-7 in just 27 minutes.

SAINA WILL NOW FACE PORNPAWEE CHOCHUWONG IN THE SECOND ROUND

Saina also conquered the Indonesian Yulia Yosephin Susanto till 43 minutes before beating her by 21-16 21-11. She will now face Thailand’s Former World Junior runner-up Pornpawee Chohuwong, who crashed the Indian Qualifier by 21-6 21-8. She recently beats Saina in the recently concluded Malaysian Open. It was the first time in the past 5 meetings that Saina didn’t beat her.

In men, Kidambi Srikanth had to fight hard to beat Thailand’s Sitthikon Thammasin by 21-17 21-18. Now the stage is set for the big clash where Kidambi will take on Japan’s Kanta Tsuneyama in the next round. The records are in favor of Kidambi as he defeated him 3 times in their last 5 meetings.

 

Sameer Verma also defeated Thai qualifier Suppanyu Avihngsmoma and will clash with China’s Lu Guangzu. It won’t be an easy task for Sameer as they tied by 1-1 in head to head clashes.

The veteran 32 years old Parupalli Kashyap, who came through the qualifier Rounds Notched an easy win against Denmark’s Rasmus Gemke with 21-19 21-14.

The Tournament is now set for the second round where all the eyes will be on the Indian players and their performances. People have high expectation from the players.
