South Africa Secured the Test Series Victory Against Pakistan.
Pakistan’s tour of South Africa included T20I, ODI, and Test matches. The hosts showcased their dominance across formats, with the Test series marking a notable highlight.
Match Details
The second Test match, which proved decisive, was held from January 3rd to 6th at Cape Town. South Africa won the toss and elected to bat first on a pitch that promised runs for disciplined batting.
South Africa First Innings
Aiden Markram and Ryan Rickelton opened the innings for South Africa but failed to provide a strong start as Markram fell early. Temba Bavuma joined Rickelton at the crease, and the duo began rebuilding the innings.
Both batsmen showed tremendous skill and patience, not only completing their half-centuries but also converting them into centuries. Their crucial partnership was broken by Agha Salman, who dismissed Bavuma.
Ryan Rickelton, however, continued his scintillating knock, reaching 150 and eventually a magnificent double century. Kyle Verreynne provided valuable support with a century of his own, while Marco Jansen added a quickfire 62 runs towards the end. South Africa posted a mammoth total of 615 runs in their first innings.
Pakistan First Innings
Shan Masood and Babar Azam opened for Pakistan, but the South African bowlers dominated right from the start. Kagiso Rabada, in particular, was lethal, picking up three wickets, while Kwena and Keshav Maharaj chipped in with two wickets each.
Babar Azam stood as the lone warrior with a knock of 58 runs, but the rest of the batting lineup crumbled. Pakistan was bowled out for 194 runs, handing South Africa a massive lead.
Pakistan Second Innings
Following on, Pakistan showed more resilience in their second innings. Shan Masood and Babar Azam provided an outstanding start, completing their half-centuries. Marco Jansen eventually dismissed Babar, but Shan continued his fightback, reaching a well-deserved century.
Contributions from the middle and lower order helped Pakistan reach 478 runs, avoiding an innings defeat. Kagiso Rabada and Keshav Maharaj led the bowling attack again, taking three wickets each.
South Africa Second Innings
With just 58 runs needed to win, South Africa cruised to victory in their second innings. Aiden Markram and David Miller comfortably chased down the target, sealing the match and the series for the hosts.
This emphatic win marked another strong performance by South Africa, securing the Test series victory against Pakistan.
