South Africa Triumphs Over Bangladesh in Dominant First-Test Victory in Two-Match Series.

South Africa is currently on tour in Bangladesh, playing a two-match Test series.

Match Details

The first Test match took place from October 21st to 24th at Mirpur. Bangladesh won the toss and chose to bat first.

Bangladesh First Innings

Mahmudul Hasan Joy and Shadman Islam opened the innings for Bangladesh. However, Wiaan Mulder struck early, claiming three wickets in three consecutive overs, not allowing the Bangladeshi batsmen to settle.

Kagiso Rabada followed up by taking two more wickets quickly, with Keshav Maharaj providing support. Between them, Mulder, Rabada, and Maharaj took three wickets each, restricting Bangladesh to a low total of 106 runs.

South Africa First Innings

In response, South Africa opened with Aiden Markram and Tony de Zorzi. However, Hasan Mahmud dismissed Markram in the very first over.

The South African top order struggled, losing wickets early with brief innings until Kyle Verreynne and Wiaan Mulder formed a crucial partnership.

Both completed their half-centuries, with Kyle scoring a brilliant century. Wiaan contributed a solid 54 runs, helping South Africa post a total of 308.

Bangladesh’s Taijul Islam took an impressive five-wicket haul, while Hasan Mahmud and Mehidy Hasan claimed three and two wickets respectively.

Bangladesh Second Innings

Mahmudul Hasan Joy and Shadman Islam once again opened for Bangladesh, but Rabada quickly removed both Shadman and Mominul Haque in the same over.

Although Mahmudul contributed briefly, he soon lost his wicket as well. Mehidy Hasan Miraz and Jaker Ali then steadied the innings, both completing half-centuries.

Their partnership helped Bangladesh recover to post a total of 307 runs. Rabada claimed six wickets in total, including a five-wicket haul in this innings, while Keshav Maharaj added three more wickets to his tally.

South Africa Second Innings

Chasing 106 runs for victory, Tony de Zorzi and Aiden Markram provided a steady start for South Africa. The top order played quick, brief innings, guiding their team to a comfortable win by seven wickets, taking a 1-0 lead in the series.
