It is inevitable to invite the wrath of those whom Taking Turkey targets in a particular episode, unmasking them in the public eye. It is only natural for a few of them taking umbrage at the uncomfortable revelations.
The last three episodes, in particular, have been quite Investigative in nature. Firstly, there was this expose on BCCI of a 350 Cr scam. Very few are in the know that BCCI is mired in internal feud, leading to litigations and crores spent on legal expenses. There is an ongoing skirmish among the three parties—BCCI, CoA and the state bodies. Talking Turkey investigated the matter and came to know of a massive scam going on within the cricket bodies in the name of legal expenditure. This created a furor once the episode went live.
Secondly, there was the expose on rampant age fraud in Indian sports. Close on the heels of the huge revelation made by Shahid Afridi about his actual age, Talking Turkey made some investigation on the Indian scenario. Here, again a lot of skeletons came out of the closet and nitpicking on a few errant parties led to lot of discomfort.
Thirdly, in the most recent episode of TT, Power Sportz team did a sting on drugs and doping among the athletes in India. An investigation revealed that a lot of banned substances like anabolic steroid are easily available over-the-counter without a doctor’s prescription.
Is this the last TT show?
Although, there is no concrete news on this, there are rumours that Talking Turkey could be discontinued. Realizing that this gritty show of Power Sportz, Talking Turkey could be pernicious for their existence, a few of them are learnt to have initiated defamation suits against the show. Taking a dig at those who have hideous designs has brought Talking Turkey toe-to-toe with them. However, these are only rumours as the channel hasn’t received any document or intimation from the court so far.
An inside source revealed that its not true that TT is being discontinued but could be taking a break while the World Cup is on, as the channel is gearing up for 8 hours of Live programming everyday, on all days of the World Cup.
Kanthi D Suresh, herself, in a casual conversation , in the recently held anniversary celebrations, mentioned that she has been unable to take a break in the past one year, and that she would like to focus on her well-being for a while, given a chance, and rejuvenate a bit.
But, with Power Sportz taking on the responsibility of the World Cup coverage, it certainly does not seem like the right time for Kanthi D Suresh to take a break.
Is it the World Cup, the cases, or her well-being…!!!
Definitely, it would not be in the interest of sports lover if TT has to be pulled off. However, it would become clear only in the coming few days.
