England and South Africa played the second ODI on July 22nd at Old Trafford, Manchester.

SA, after winning the last ODI by a huge margin, will be confident and looking for another win and claim the series.

Meanwhile, ENG will be looking to draw the series, as if they lose this game, they will also lose the series.

SA won the toss and elected to bowl first.

First Innings

It was time for the English batsman to score a big total and defend it to win.

Jason Roy and Jonny Bairstow opened for the English team.
The start was good as the batsmen were hitting boundaries and rotating the strike rate.

Anrich Nortje didn’t let the openers build a partnership as he soon took the wicket of Roy.

Dwaine Pretorius wasn’t far enough as he first took the wicket of Phil Salt.

In his next over, he took two of the major wickets of ENG in the form of Bairstow and Joe Root.

The short knocks of Liam Livingstone and Sam Curran took the
ENG to 201.

Dwaine Pretorius took four wickets, Anrich Nortje and Tabraiz Shamsi took two wickets each as they stopped ENG at a low total.

Second Innings

The bowlers managed to stop the English team at a low score. Now it was time for the SA batsman to chase down the runs.

Quinton de Kock and Janneman Malan opened the innings for SA.

Reece Topley, the main bowler, gave SA two early breakthroughs in the third over itself.

David Willey took the third wicket of SA in the next over as Quinton de Kock also departed.

In the same over of Willey, SA lost their fourth wicket as Aiden Markram was run out by Jos Buttler.

None of the South African batsmen were able to stand in front of the English bowling attack.
