Vijay Yadav

Yet another addition made its way towards the India-A team support staff Thursday before the team’s tour to South Africa. Former Indian wicket-keeper  Vijay Yadav was appointed as the fielding coach of the India-A team. According to him,  “Yes, it’s just couple of hours back that I was told about my appointment as the fielding coach of the India A team. The squad is leaving the day after tomorrow (July 22nd) but I may have to join a couple of days late. I am now rushing to Mumbai and my paperwork and visa formalities will be completed there.”

Vijay Yadav was a lower middle order batsman and has played 1 test and 19 ODIs during 1992-93 for India. He has also played first class cricket for Haryana and North Zone, scoring 3988 runs in 89 matches. As a wicket keeper, he has taken 237 catches and 46 stumpings. Currently, he is running an academy in Firozabad and also has been the coach of Haryana Ranji team.

According to a BCCI official, “Earlier, it was decided that Biju George will go but after deliberations, Vijay Yadav’s name was recommended. Being a wicketkeeper, he could also help out the likes of Rishabh Pant, Sanju Samson, Ishan Kishan.”
