Virat Kohli

India’s cricket captain, Virat Kohli has increased his fee for endorsements to 5 crore/day, up from 2.5 crore to 3 crore per day which he used to charge earlier. The increased fee is for the new contracts and this is highest among all Indian celebrities. The latest increase in his fee has put him in the league of international sports icons.

Virat Kohli is currently negotiating his contract with Pepsi. Pepsi had recently ended its contract with former Indian captain, MS Dhoni.

In general, a company contracts with a sports person for a period of 2 to 4 days a year. On those days, the player is asked to either shoot for commercials or to attend events on behalf of the brand. The total amount paid is 15-20 crores.

Virat Kohli endorses 18 brands as of now. Some of the notable names in that include Puma, Tissot Watches, Audi, MRF Tyres, Gionee, Boost and Colgate. Recently he had signed a deal worth 110 Crore for next 8 years with Puma.

In October last year, Duff & Phelps had estimated Virat Kohli’s brand value to be $92 million which is expected to have risen over 30% based on his current form and the recent promotion to captaincy in shorter formats of the game. Even though Kohli is the highest paid celebrity in India, he is still far from being one of the leading in world. The list of richest sportsperson is headed by individuals in Football, Tennis, Golf, Basketball and boxing.
