In a charity event in England, Dhoni shared what value does the white jacket given to the Champions Trophy winner holds in his life. He said, “The white jacket has a place of pride in the wardrobe. After all the champagne, I don’t think it is there to be worn again,”he explained. He further added, “Before that Champions Trophy [in 2013], we weren’t going through a good phase. I think a lot of people doubted how well we would do.”
Dhoni led his team to victory ICC Champions Trophy 2013 and is the only captain in the world who has won all the three ICC Trophies. Surely, Kohli would like to walk on the footsteps of Dhoni. This is his first ICC tournament as captain and he would like to maintain a good record from the start. When asked about winning the Champions Trophy, he gave a humorous reply and said, “Yes, if they [the white jackets] fit better this time, I would definitely be in for that. The last time, we looked like jokers because they were too loose.”
Dhoni sharing his feelings on the 2013 edition of Champions Trophy said, “I always felt the Champions Trophy was slightly tougher, because you don’t get a lot of time to get into the tournament or to get into the groove. Especially now with this kind of weather, you don’t know what to expect.”
