India after winning their first match against Pakistan must be very confident and there is no doubt that they will enter the match as favourites and a with sky high confidence in their next match against Sri Lanka. However, the case is different with opponents. They already had a hard time against South Africa, by losing their regular captain Angelo Mathews due to a calf injury. And to take things to the worse, stand-in captain was charged with a two match suspension for teams slow over rate. If Angelo is marked unavailable for this match, Sri Lanka is really going to face a hard time in the next match.
Former Sri Lanka captain, Kumar Sangakkara wrote in his column for the cricket governing body website, “I would personally like this young Sri Lanka side to walk out at The Oval and play with the arrogance and abandon of youth.”
He further said, “They should express their talent and play a really positive brand of cricket. If they are able to do this, then they have a chance of pulling off an upset, but it will not be easy an India team that so confidently overwhelmed Pakistan on Sunday.”
According to Sangakara, the bowling department of the team was good against South Africa at the start and towards the middle overs post the dismissal of Faf Du Plessis.
India will clash Sri lanka on 8th of june. It will be a do or die match for Sri Lanka whereas the Indian side will play to lock their place in the top four teams.
