Indian wrestler, Sakshi Malik who also won bronze medal at Rio Olympics, won silver medal in Asian Wrestling Championship in women’s 60kg category, held in May 2017. In an interview, she said that she wasn’t 100 percent ready for the tournament.

She told the reporters, “Actually, after (Rio) Olympics that (Asian Championship) was my first international competition, and there was too much gap, and I felt that there was some gap in the experience. We cannot say that the preparation was 100 per cent (for the Asian Championship).”

She also said that now she is training hard and expect to better in future. Malik also received Woman of the Year award of The IMC Ladies Wing. She feels that to overcome the pressure to win medals, there is only one way and that is, lot of hard work.

She said, “There is distraction (of social events). But I take out time for training despite this functions. Wresting in a tough sport. If we move away from the moves of wresting, we move away from the sport. I do functions, but take out time for training.”

The wrestler is now preparing for the World Wrestling Championship which is scheduled to be held in Paris in August.
