Match Details

The first Test match was held at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium in North Sound, Antigua. Bangladesh won the toss and opted to field first.

West Indies First Innings

Kraigg Braithwaite and Mikyle Louis opened for the West Indies. Taskin Ahmed struck early, dismissing Kraigg, and then Keacy Carty in his next over.

Despite the early setbacks, Mikyle steadied the innings and brought up a well-crafted half-century. Alick Athanaze provided solid support at the other end, also reaching his fifty. Both batters, however, fell short of their centuries.

Justin Greaves then took charge, playing a brilliant knock of 115 runs. His effort, along with contributions from the top order, powered West Indies to a strong total of 450/9d.

Bangladesh First Innings

Bangladesh began their response with Mahmudul Hasan Joy and Zakir Hasan opening the innings. However, the start was far from ideal, as both openers were dismissed cheaply.

Mominul Haque stepped up, stabilizing the innings and reaching a half-century. Jaker Ali later joined him, adding another fifty to the scoreboard. Despite their efforts, Bangladesh was bowled out for 269 runs.

West Indies Second Innings

Kraigg Braithwaite and Mikyle Louis once again opened for the West Indies, but this time, the Bangladesh bowlers dominated. Taskin Ahmed led the charge, taking wickets at regular intervals and finishing with a remarkable five-wicket haul.

West Indies struggled to build partnerships and were restricted to 152 runs, with Taskin ending the innings with six wickets in total.

Bangladesh Second Innings

Chasing a target of 334 runs, Bangladesh began with Mahmudul Hasan Joy and Zakir Hasan at the crease. However, the West Indies bowlers delivered an exceptional performance from the start, dismantling the batting lineup.

Bangladesh managed to score only 132 runs before being bowled out. Kemar Roach and Jayden Seales were the standout bowlers, taking three wickets each.

West Indies clinched the match by 201 runs, taking a decisive lead in the two-Test series.
