Ferrari has been a mid-fielder until last year but this season has been a special one for the Maranello-based Formula 1 team as they are the front runners for the world championship just behind the last year’s runner-up, Redbull. The only problem right now is that they are facing reliability issues but we are sure that the Italian brand knows a way out.

At the 2022 Austrian Grand Prix, one of the F1-75 had to retire and till Carlos Sainz Jr. could jump out of it, it went into flames making fans a little bit nervous. Everyone is sceptical about similar future incidences but the Spaniard thinks that they have everything under control and got a chance to bring the constructor’s championship trophy back home. Now, the question is ‘how’?

To answer this, let’s check the driver’s and constructor’s points table for both Ferrari and Redbull.

Driver’s Championship Standings

Drivers Points
Max Verstappen (Red Bull) 208
Charles Leclerc (Ferrari) 170
Sergio Perez (Red Bull) 151
Carlos Sainz Jr. (Ferrari) 133

Constructor’s Championship Standings

Teams Points
Red Bull 359
Ferrari 303

The difference between Max Verstappen and Charles Leclerc stands very close to each other and that’s another reason why Ferrari still has a chance to close up. Another interesting part about the constructor’s championship is that the difference stands at 56 points. One or two more DNFs can finish taking the lead to another level.

At the post-race interview, Carlos Sainz Jr. has clearly mentioned that the situation still feels under control. While addressing the media he said, “As a team, we are still motivated, we are united. We are going through a bump in the road, which I think after the step that we’ve done in the engine this year, I would much rather take this step and take a bump in the road than have an unpowerful (sic) engine that is reliable.”

He further added, “I think, as a team, we’ve done a great job with this year’s engine and we’re just going through some issues that are going to be solved, I’m sure.”

Also when asked whether Sainz’s DNF will have any impact on the team result, Mattia Binnoto, Ferrari’s Team Principal said, “Of course, we are very disappointed for [Sainz], but I’m sure he will fight back in the upcoming races. We are still suffering with reliability problems, we know what they are and we must make every effort to solve them as soon as possible. I am sure we can do it…”.
