Global hospitality startup OYO has appointed former IndiGo president Aditya Ghosh, as its new Chief Executive Officer for India and South Asia, effective from 1 December 2018.

The latest appointment is part of OYO efforts to strengthen global leadership, as it looks to accelerate growth in its home markets India and China.

Aditya Ghosh had successfully led IndiGo and has a proven professional career spanning 21 years. He has been entrusted to oversee OYO Hotels business in South Asia, which includes India, Nepal, other upcoming markets in the region.

Talking about the Ghosh’s appointment, Ritesh Agarwal, Founder and Group CEO, OYO Hotels, said, “His business acumen, his problem-solving capabilities, and his customer-centric approach to innovation that helped him build an influential brand that is loved by all and makes him an excellent choice for Oyo Hotels,”

He further added, “Above all, his ability to deliver growth with large-scale impact, whether it is to develop an inclusive culture or in giving back to society, makes him a great addition to the leadership team.”

The global hotel chain founded in 2013 by Ritesh Agarwal, already has a presence in over 500 cities, with more than 10,000 asset partners spread across the five countries. It has grown at a remarkable rate, with more than 250,000 franchised and leased rooms as part of the hotel chain.

In September 2018, OYO raised $1 billion from SoftBank, along with other investors, to boost global leadership and expansion.

Post investment, OYO has already announced its international foray into UAE and Indonesia market.
