Ace investor Y-Combinator picks 28 startups from India for winter batch

In a big announcement for the Indian tech startups amid the ongoing festive week, Bharti Airtel, has revealed that it has launch a Startup Accelerator Program to support growth of early-stage startups in India, reported ET.

The Startup Accelerator Program has been established in order to provide assistance to the creation of a startup ecosystem that contributes to ‘Digital India’, as per the company.

Airtel made a series a announcements under the startups banner, which include the induction of Vahan, a tech startup into its Startups Accelerator. Also the company would acquire a stake in Vahan and partners with the startup in order to achieve the vision of enabling jobs for the next billion internet users.

Adarsh Nair, Chief Product Officer, Bharti Airtel said, “Early stage startups in India face multiple challenges in scaling up. With this program we have the potential to drive accelerated growth of emerging startups that are solving hard problems.”

While, Madhav Krishna, Founder and Chief Executive Officer, Vahan, said, “Most blue-collar job seekers are unaware of the opportunities that exist in the market, especially new-age on-demand jobs. Airtel’s distribution channels will help us reach the depths of the country and in turn, help them take control of their economic destiny.”
