US-based global online retailer Amazon will be piloting its ‘faster than same day’ delivery service in on a selection of best-selling smartphones for customers in Delhi NCR region.

With the latest delivery service, the customers will be able to get their smartphones delivered to their homes within 3 to 5 hours.

According to the company, the service is free for Prime members, with non-Prime members expected to pay a nominal delivery fee of Rs 150 to avail free delivery.

Amazon India has a robust fulfilment and transportation network that enables us to innovate constantly, deliver faster and more efficiently,” says VP-Customer Fulfilment, Amazon India, Akhil Saxena. “This new service will enable us to better serve our customers and also support our Prime members with free & fast delivery, especially this festive season,” he adds.

Amazon is in the midst of the second wave of its festive sale ‘Great Indian Festival’, the latest service will test the e-tailer’s delivery network.

With the new initiative, Amazon will be looking to target the large group of customers that look to holding their phones as soon as they have ordered it, as it can take a long time to deliver smartphones during the flash sales and other sales, with order volumes skyrocketing.

Nishant Sardana, Category Leader – Smartphones, Amazon India, said, “With this delivery option, customers can get their hands on a host of best sellers in the smartphones category, including Honor 8X that was launched just yesterday, within 5 hours.”
