West Indies, the former captain, and hard big hitter, Chris Gayle recently invested an undisclosed amount in IONA Entertainment which is a Bengaluru based gaming company. At present IONA, has one 70,000 square-feet gaming venue at Virginia Mall, Bengaluru. Initially, the entertainment company raised its funding from Singapore-based, Vestasia.
While speaking to the reporters about the investment Gayle said, he is a family man and is happy to be associated with IONA. IONA is a family oriented firm with the potential to grow into a big business. He also announced that he will soon be going to invest in Indian businesses as much as possible.
IONA has attracted an investment of ₹200 crore in its first phase and the company aims to gather more from the market. The company added, “We need to invest more, and partners coming in like Chris Gayle and Vestasia further strengthens our brand in the quest to become a global player”.
When asked about Gayle’s investment, the company said two things related to the matter. First, Chris Gayle cannot be valued. Secondly, the brand is young, it’s only one month old and it is still in talks with Gayle and other stakeholders about business modalities. The entertainment company intends to set up gaming zones in different parts of the country and make its presence felt abroad. It aims to open five more centers in India and two abroad.
