Hyperlocal subscription-based delivery startup DailyNinja has acquired Hyderabad-based daily morning delivery startup WakeupBasket, in a mix of cash and equity deal.

Post acquisition, all the employees of WakeupBasket, including the founders, will be joining the DailyNinja team, and the customers will be transferred to the DailyNinja platform.

This acquisition comes nearly two months after DailyNinja had acquired another Hyderabad-based delivery startup 4amShop. DailyNinja further strengthens its operations in Hyderabad, as it looks to expand its presence.

WakeupBasket was founded by Satendra Pratap in 2015, who was later joined by Sai Varaprasad. The startup provides a platform for customers to order daily grocery and milk products delivered at their doorsteps. The daily delivery startup has been operational in Hyderabad for around two and a half years, serving 2,500 orders per day.

DailNinja was founded by BITS Pilani graduates, Sagar Yarnalkar, along with Anurag Gupta in 2015. The startup uses a subscription-based model to cater to its customer’s daily grocery, dairy, vegetable, etc needs.

Currently, the startup is operational across Bengaluru, Hyderabad, and Chennai, serving over 30,000 orders per day. It also plans to touch 1,00,000 in daily orders in the next six months, as it looks to accelerate growth.

The latest acquisition is a step in the direction to achieve a daily order rate of 1,00,000. DailyNinja will be looking to leverage both WakeupBasket and 4amShop’s network and experiHyderabadHyderbad, to expand its footprint in the city.

Last month, Bengaluru-based DailyNinja raised fresh funds from new investor Matrix Partners India, along with participation from existing investors Sequoia Capital and Saama Capital. The funding was part of the startup’s extended series A round.

Earlier in June 2018, DailyNinja raised ₹20 crores in series A round led by Saama Capital and Sequoia Capital.

Other players competing with DailyNinja in the milk delivery space include Bengaluru-based Doodhwala, Haryana-based Milkbasket, Delhi-based Farmery, and Supr Daily.
