DesignGild, Pune based design-centric startup accelerator has selected Bangalore’s QtPi and Pune based RXHealth for its first acceleration batch. Six month’s intensive accelerator program will start with a bootcamp commencing on May 22nd.

DesignGild is an initiative and brainchild of Pune based Maharashtra Institute of Design. It aims to support upto 5 startups every year and plans to provide funds upto ₹20 lakhs for 3% equity. The accelerator program looks to incorporate design experience of the MITID campus.

Speaking on the development, Harshit Desai, COO – DesignGild said that the accelerator will help the startups in product design, business model innovation and hands on design experience with expertise from MITID. The six month long program will also help startups in getting exposed to latest design trends and technique, besides helping them with co-working spaces, access to prototyping and intellectual property rights. The program will also train selected startups in PR and business development to enable them in unlocking more business opportunities once they are graduated.

DesignGild has done a strategic agreement with Institute of Healthcare Design thinking in US to provide access to world class design trends. It also has a set of mentors, who will help the startups in various aspects. The pool of mentors include Atindrya Bose– ex-Country Head, Sony (Playstation), Ashish Despande – co-founder, Elephant Design, Sachin Tagra – Associate VP – Brand Capital and Jay Dutta – Design Partner at SAIF Partners.

A little about startups

QtPi is a Bangalore based robotics startup which works with an aim of robotics for all. Launched in November 2016 by Jaison Leon, it has developed a plug and play robotics kit which helps students in creating robots accordingly. The robotic kit includes Arduini-based main board, sensors, building blogs and can be controlled with the help of a mobile app. The startup looks to replace traditional learning system to the innovative robotics learning system.

RXHealth is a pune based health informatics company started by Rohan Prakash in 2015. It aims to increase the productivity and knowledge and reference base of doctors with its technology. It helps doctors to remain updated with the latest medicine trends and helps them diagnose patients better.
