BharatPe, a fintech company has appointed Pratekk Agarwaal as its chief business officer to lead its push into lending, reported ET. The digital payments company onboards micro merchants for Unified Payments Interface-based transaction. At present, it is stepping into lending and other financial services for merchants.

“BharatPe is looking to drive credit for more than five million merchants within the next one year and will be investing steadily in promoting this vertical and making top level hires,” Ashneer Grover, CEO at BharatPE.

Agarwaal, who co-founded Selfin, has more than 18 years’ experience, having worked across financial services companies like Indostar Capital, Bajaj Capital and Fullerton India. Selfin worked on financial management, insurance and lending technology systems.

BharatPe is an Indian payments company, serving the offline retailers and businesses. It enables the merchants to accept UPI payments for free through BharatPe QR.
Merchants can sign up instantly and start receiving the funds immediately in their bank account. It makes payment acceptance simple by offering merchants a single interface for all UPI apps such as PayTM, PhonePe, Google Pay, BHIM, Mobikwik, Freecharge, True Caller and 100 other UPI apps.
The company aims to make payments free for all businesses. The intention is to be the utility app for over 10 millionĀ  offline merchants in India for all their business needs.
