Flipkart, India’s biggest e-commerce unicorn, has inked a pact with Nokia, in order to launch the latter’s smart TVs in India, cited Inc42.

Walmart-owned platform Flipkart will handle the manufacturing of Nokia’s smart TVs in India and also distribute it.

Flipkart said that it conducted market research to determine features for the Nokia TV range, which include JBL-powered audio systems.

While, for Finland-based Nokia, the Flipkart collaboration is not just about a manufacturing partner, but a complete go-to-market strategy with promotions and research-backed product development.

Flipkart is based out of Bengaluru, founded by Sachin Bansal and Binny Bansal together in 2007. The company initially focused on book sales, before expanding into other product categories such as consumer electronics, fashion, and lifestyle products.

Nokia, on the other hand, is the latest smartphone brand to venture into the smart TV category, which saw roaring sales in the just-concluded festive season sales on Flipkart and Amazon.
