On 9th June, French Development Agency has signed a 3.5-million Euro Grant Facility Agreement with India to start the functioning of ‘MobiliseYourCity’ initiative financed by the European Union for urban mobility. It is connected with the international initiative which has been supported by the French and German Government, it was launched in one of the conferences held in Paris.

MobiliseYourCity is eyeing to reduce the greenhouse gas emission globally, under mobility plan. Greenhouse gasses are affecting environment and people in the huge amount and they are not even aware of the amount of harm being caused to them. In India, they are planning to support three cities with their services, which are Nagpur, Kochi and Ahmedabad. These are the largest in number to cause greenhouse emission gas.

Pascal Pacaud, Head of Asia Department at AFD Headquarters in Paris has stated that “The grants delegated to AFD by the European Union under the Asia Investment Facility enable AFD to bring additional value to its partners by implementing technical assistance and capacity building programs”.

AFD also have Kochi and Chandigarh on their list, to provide technical assistance program for the development of a comprehensive vision of urban mobility in these two cities.
