Freshmenu BIAL

Food tech startup Freshmenu has announced that it has opened its first front-facing kitchen at Bengaluru airport. This comes at a time when the company is focusing on expanding orders for the startup.

As per the company’s record, it now has 35 cloud kitchens across Bengaluru, Mumbai and Delhi NCR. It is now looking to increase the count to 40-42 in the next 4 months.

Commenting on this, Rashmi Daga, CEO of Freshmenu, said,

In the last 6 months, we have doubled our footprint in Mumbai, opened a lot more kitchens. In this last month alone, we have opened 5 kitchens including the one at the Bengaluru airport.

The company also said that it has “enough money in the bank to continue (investing for) capex behind the kitchens.”

It is not surprising that Freshmenu has opened a kiosk at the airport. According to an IBEF report, close to 265 million passengers passed through Indian airports last year, and the number is expected to touch 300 million by 2018.

Rashmi Daga, says that the company has no plans of opening more front-facing kitchens. It says that the newer kitchens will be focussed only within the existing 3 cities. The company says that it currently clocks 13,000 orders per day with an average order value at ₹325.

Notably, the company’s current order numbers are just shy of Swiggy which clocks orders worth ₹350 on an average. With an increase in kitchens, Freshmenu is targetting a 2x growth in revenues as the company is finding a path towards profitability.
