Govt organises challenge for startups to showcase design solutions to curb single-use plastic pollution

In a bid eliminate single-use plastic bags from the country, the government has taken a different approach to find out a remedy for the hazardous water and waste pollution issue.

The government has organized ‘Single-Use Plastic International Grand Challenge‘ for startups and will reward the startups and individuals to develop design solutions to curb the problem of single-use plastic materials.

The challenge has already been startup, and will end on 22nd October.

The DPIIT (Department for Promotion of Internal and Industry Trade) stated that the challenge is applicable to all startups, and the solution model should be atleast in any of the following stages: minimum viable product, proof of concept or a deployed solution which requires further scaling up.

Whereas, government, under the startup India, will give preference to firms that have built a product across any of the identified areas such as retail, advertising, e-commerce, logistics, transportation, storage, and others.

Furthermore, the results will be announced on 31 October and the first, second winners would be give a cash prize worth INR 3 lakh and INR 2 lakh respectively.
