Harshit Vyas has been appointed as a new Chief Business Officer (CBO) for hospitality startup Oyo Hotels & Homes, reported Mint.

The company Oyo said that the present appointment is in line with the company’s efforts to invest in world-class leadership and move a step closer to its goal of upgrading all forms of real estate, enabling 3.2 billion middle-income travellers and city dwellers experience Oyo hospitality.

Harshit Vyas, as per the company, is an early OYOpreneur, who has been working closely with founder Ritesh Agarwal since OYO started its operations.

Vyas said “I look forward to working with the ground teams to strengthen our regional capabilities, drive growth, and contribute to OYO’s mission to offer quality living spaces for everyone.”

The SoftBank backed hospitality chain Oyo was started by Ritesh Agarwal in 2013. The startup was started from a single hotel to over 8500 hotels at present. It is the fastest growing network of hotels, offline and online.

While, in 2013, Vyas joined the company as one of its first five core employees focusing on business development for OYO’s first city launch in Gurgaon.

During his tenure at OYO, he has led OYO’s first foray in the international market as part of which he set up a team of local nationals, tested out various business models and built relationships with asset partners in Malaysia.

Whereas, prior to this, he was the head of west region, leading a team of over 2000 employees.

For the current role, Vyas will have field teams across India reporting to him and will work closely with the central capability functions.

Apart from Oyo, other strong players in the hospitality startup include YatraFabhotels,TreeboMakeMyTripClearTrip, and among others.
