Nearly two months after UrbanClap raised $75 million (approx INR 519 crore) in its Series E round led by Tiger Global, the home services platform UrbanClap, now is all set to step into Australia. The platform will launch its services next month in the island country, cited ET.

“We believe that there is a huge opportunity to deliver high quality services in home repairs and beauty services in Australia. We have created a new axis in matching demand to supply,” said Abhiraj Bhal co-founder of UrbanClap, confirming the development.

Bhal further said that the price points in Australia are 4-5 times of India and it is a very lucrative country to do business in while keeping technology costs under control.

UrbanClap was founded by Abhiraj BhalRaghav Chandra, and Varun Khaitan in 2014. The hyperlocal home service startup provides a wide range of services like plumbers, electricians, carpenters, cleaners, and pest control, among many others.

The startup has expanded its presence across eight Indian cities including Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, Delhi NCR, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Mumbai, and Pune. It has also gone international.

The strategy to expand beyond India is largely driven by the aim to tap a higher order value market and clocks better margins.

Besides UrbanClap, other platforms under the similar roof include HousejoyLocalOye, EventXtraArmut(Home Run), UrbanPro, and many more.
