RDP, a Hyderabad-based affordable computing devices manufacturer, is planning to raise around ₹19 crore ($3 million) in the near future. The funding will be used to boost company’s sales and marketing initiatives in the country.

Apart from focusing on sales and marketing efforts, the startup is also planning setting up a new manufacturing unit. A decision regarding the same is expected in the next six to nine months.

Launched in the year 2012, RDP has already close to ₹20 crore in the company. It caters to both — enterprise and consumer segments. The company claims to have sold over 60,000 units of computing devices such as laptops and tablets, among others, in the last fiscal year.

RDP founder and CEO Vikram Redlapalli said:

After the launch of RDP in 2012, we focussed on the enterprise segment for over three years. As we have also started catering to the consumer segment, we are keen on reaching out to more number of consumers.

The startup is currently present in four cities. Vikram says that around three and a half months ago, the company entered into a pact with a Taiwanese distribution firm, WPI Group, which has a presence in 18 cities. He further adds that they are planning to have a presence in 70 cities over the next few years.

The company was started with a mission to provide simplified and affordable computing solutions. As per the company’s estimates, the market size is growing more than 8 percent Year-on-Year.

RDP’s product line comprises wide range of Thin Clients, Mini PC’s & Commercial Desktop PCs. The company says that it uses flexible and consultative approach to achieve the best possible level of client satisfaction and crucially deliver best results.

It runs an assembly unit at Anantapur in Andhra Pradesh, with a capacity of assembling 2,000 units per day. RDP claims to have clocked revenues of ₹20 crore last year and is eyeing ₹40 crore this fiscal year.
