InMobi, which says it’s the world’s largest independent advertising company, has announced that it has acquired Los Angeles-based startup AerServ for a sum of $90 million (approx. Rs. 573.5 crore). The deal consists of cash as well as stock transaction.

The acquisition of this startup is expected to help InMobi increase monetisation by 25-30% from its existing set of clients, besides helping secure new clients. With this investment, InMobi’s video and programmatic business will account for 35% of the overall company revenue.

Commenting on this acquisition, Josh Speyer, Chief Executive Officer at AerServ, said:

We’re excited to join forces with InMobi and grow the mobile advertising and programmatic industry together. Our decision to embark on this new adventure was made easy by the great partner we have in InMobi, their expertise in the industry and global scale. This will allow us to scale our platforms together across the globe and build a strong business in previously untapped markets such as China and broader APAC.

AerServ is an inventory and audience monetisation technology platform for mobile publishers. The company, which was launched in 2013, has an entire platform and infrastructure built with a publisher-first objective and focuses on providing support to account managers and software engineers.

According to InMobi CEO Naveen Tewari, the acquisition will enhance monetisation for publishers globally and increase InMobi’s offerings through the creation of InMobi Exchange. InMobi has so far made four acquisitions — Sprout in 2011, MMTG Labs and Metaflow Solutions in 2012 and Overlay Media in 2013.
