Mukesh Ambani, Chairman of Reliance Industries Limited (RIL), will be investing an additional ₹3,000 crore in Odisha, over the next three years. The announcement was made at the Make in Odisha Conclave 2018.

RIL has already invested ₹6,000 crore in the state, making it one of the largest investors of Odisha.

With most of the investments aimed towards boosting the digital infrastructure, RIL’s aims are in line with the government of India’s Digital India campaign. Reliance Jio has played a crucial role in strengthening the digital ecosystem of the country, penetrating the far reaches of tier 2 and tier 3 cities.

Supporting digital revolution, Ambani said, “Everything in the world is going digital –music, car, banks, education. Every aspect of life is going digital. Digital technologies will completely transform every sector of the economy and every aspect of life. This will be achieved by tools of connectivity and technologies.”

The company claims to have provided employment to over 30,000 people, over the two years.

The Make In Odisha Conclave 2018 is the flagship biennial business event of the Government of Odisha. The notable people present at the Make in Odisha Conclave 2018, included, Naveen Patnaik, Chief Minister of Odisha, Kenji Hiramatsu, Japanese Ambassador to India, consul generals of several other countries, besides other leading business heads, and representatives from industry body FICCI.
