To boost IT industry in Gujarat, National Association of Software and Services Companies (NASSCOM) is reportedly planning to set up a Centre of Excellence in Ahmedabad.

Once launched, this will mark NASSCOM’s second such centre in India. Earlier, the organization had launched the first one in Bengaluru, Karnataka.

Commenting on the development, Jaimin Shah, chairman – Domestic Council, NASSCOM, said,

We are in talks with the government and things are at the final stage. We expect an affirmation by the end of this month. Through this facility, we will be mentoring and nurture some 100 IT-based startups in the first phase in next one year.

As said, the upcoming CoE is aimed at nurturing technology and IT-based startup ecosystem in Gujarat with 10,000 Startups. With such program, NASSCOM aims to scale up the startup ecosystem in India by 10 times.

In July this year, the Karnataka government announced the launch of an all exclusive Centre of Excellence (CoE) in Data Sciences and Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Bengaluru.

has been assigned the duty of managing the programme. It will be bringing together industries, tech players, entrepreneurs, among others to work on the project.

Set-up in 2015 as part of the government’s Digital India programme, the CoE-IoT was conceived by the Ministry of Electronics & IT (DeitY) and Education and Research Network (ERNET) in association with NASSCOM. It was inaugurated last year and at present has around 20-22 startups being incubated under the program.

NASSCOM’s 10,000 Startup program is aiming to foster entrepreneurship, build entrepreneurial capabilities at scale and strengthen support for tech startups. The initiative brings together key stakeholders of the ecosystem including startup incubators, accelerators, angel investors, venture capitalists, startup support groups, mentors, and technology corporations.
