Homegrown ride-hailing service provider Ola, has today announced its partnership with YuppTV. Under this partnership, Ola will now be able to add the option of live tv for the users of its Ola Play service.

The users, who use Ola Play service, will now have access to various television channels of India, including live news and entertainment related channels.

According to the company, the content available will be customised depending on customer preferences and ride information including time, destination and preferred language.

Commenting on this development, Ankit Jain, the head of Ola Play, said,

With this partnership, Ola Play brings live TV inside a cab for the first time, by leveraging OTT services of YuppTV to bring an experience that is easily accessible through the user’s mobile phone as well as the tab mounted in the backseat. We are bringing a range of TV channels to Ola Play, including live news channels that are accessible on-the-go and will certainly make travel time more productive.

Ola Play has recently extended its operations to two more cities — Pune and Chennai. With the expansion, it is now present in six cities across India.

It works as immersive in-car entertainment. For video and music content, it has partnered with platforms such as Apple Music, Qualcomm, Sony Digital, Audio Compass, Fynd, and Mahindra & Mahindra, among others.

Ola Play has an open platform, enabling partners and developers to build enriching experiences for the customers. With such offering, the company is promoting the idea of giving control to the customer rather than to the driver.
