Ola, an online cab service giant is ready to set up its advanced technology centre in SanFrancisco Bay area with a team of over 150 engineers. It is the maiden venture of the Bengaluru-based ride hailing unicorn in the US market.

The advanced technology centre is part of Ola’s global initiatives to further drive mobility-led transformation to billions across the world. The centre will look to onboard world-class talent who will collaborate closely with global teams in the various geographies where Ola operates.

“The Valley and the talent ecosystem here are very conducive to the development of next-generation mobility solutions. This is also a big step in our journey as a global mobility player, with a mission that talent from around the world are inspired to join us on,” Ankit Bhati, co-founder and CTO, Ola.

Bhati further said that the centre will build cutting-edge technology solutions to accelerate Ola’s ambitions across electric mobility and connected vehicles as well as lead futuristic experiments like autonomous vehicles.

Ola was founded in December 2010 as an online cab services in Mumbai. It is an online transportation network company developed by ANI Technologies Pvt. Ltd.

As of May 2019, Ola was valued at about $6.2 billion. The company has expanded to a network of more than 1,000,000 vehicles across 169 cities.

Furthermore, the company has raised over $3.8 billion from marquee investors such as SoftBankRatan Tata, Hyundai Motor Company, Kia Motors, Sachin Bansal and others.
