OYO has decided to enter the wedding industry in India by launching a new venture called Auto Party. It will be looking to organise the wedding planning industry which has remained difficult to navigate for people. There are a lot of complex tasks involved in the planning and OYO will try to provide a single platform for all.

OYO Rooms, also known as OYO is an Indian hospitality service that provides online hotel bookings. It was founded by Ritesh Agarwal in 2013. It is backed by the SoftBank and is one of the leaders in the Indian hospitality industry.

“As an urban innovator, OYO is constantly looking for new and unique solutions to customer requirements in the real estate and hospitality space. In the wake of our foray into the MICE (meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions) segment, we further identified that the way wedding venues are booked and the events are organized in India is a highly broken process. The market is largely fragmented creating an enormous opportunity and also a chance for us to solve this problem. With AutoParty, we have introduced a one-stop solution for all the needs of customers who are planning a wedding without any hassles ensuring an end-to-end control of the experience,” said Ankit Tandon, COO, OYO Townhouse.

Organising a wedding is an ordeal for any Indian family, OYO has decided to provide all the services like event planning, banquet booking, catering, decoration, photography, music, etc. under one platform. They will also provide the facilities such as video walkthroughs of the venue and food tasting for the customers at home.

OYO plans to execute their wedding planning services via Auto Party in eight cities including Delhi/NCR, Kolkata, Lucknow and Jaipur. These cities have a total of 50 venues, OYO plans to increase it 100 by the end of this year.

There are already a few startups that have already entered the online wedding industry but they are yet to capture the market. Some of the startups that can provide some competition to OYO’s Auto Party are WeddingBrigade, Shaadimagic, WedMeGood, ShaadiSaga, BandBaajaa, etc. OYO needs to keep their pricing competitive and grab the market to get ahead in the game.
